Love Language: I’ve started drawing again

It’s taken me a while to find a rhythm. The act of drawing reminded me of the burnout I experienced back in uni - the pressure to create, the constant self-critique, that feeling of never being satisfied with what I created. I overthought everything, and the joy I once felt seemed to slip away.

But I’ve come to learn that creativity isn’t something you force, it’s something you nurture. It’s a process, a relationship. And like anything that grows, it needs patience.

It’s okay to pause. To rest. To step away and leave things unfinished. It’s okay to move slowly and simply enjoy the act of creating for what it is - without expectation.

So take those small steps.

I don’t think we say this nearly enough: be gentle with yourself. Offer yourself kindness. Give yourself grace. Give yourself flowers.

These drawings are from last summer, and I finally finished them this spring. And honestly? I’m a little proud to say, with a smile and a pat on my back “I did that” and most importantly I’ve started liking drawing again.
